Alenka Kraigher is an actress and director. After graduating in film directing from AGRFT in Ljubljana, she moved to the USA in 2008, where she studied acting at HB Studio. In New York, she starred opposite actor Willem Dafoe in a lead role, a performance that The New Yorker magazine ranked among the top five of that year. In the US, she regularly collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Richard Foreman and John Jesurun, and appeared in over 40 plays and performances, as well as in many film and TV productions, including the series MYSTERIES OF LAURA (NBC, with Debra Messing). Since returning to Slovenia during the pandemic, she has filmed seven feature films here. Currently, the films LOST SON, BLOCK 5, and HIDDEN PEOPLE are in post-production, while the features WHAT ABOUT ESTER? and ROLE MODEL have recently completed their cinema runs. She has also appeared in feature films ANTARCTICA (with Chloe Levine), MY LITTLE DARLINGS (dir. Matjaž Ivanišin), and SLOVENIAN GIRL, and she will be seen in the upcoming WHITE WASHES AT 90. In 2022, she received the Vesna Award for Best Supporting Actress at the Slovenian Film Festival for the film THE SPACE AMONG US, while her portrayal in the play D4RKLY... garnered her a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2017 Planet Connections Festival in New York. She has recurring roles in TV series YES, CHEF!, AX IN THE HONEY, ALL THE GIRLS OF MY BROTHER, and the upcoming HOUSE OF LOVE, and she appears in episodic roles in series MR. PROFESSOR and INSPECTOR VRENKO. She is currently developing the script for her feature film directorial debut.
